Ella Haber shares 'My Lover' video, announces 'Moments Between Dreams' EP launch

 

Following the release of her much-anticipated sophomore EP ‘Moments Between Dreams’ (out via Soul Has No Tempo), acclaimed Eora singer-songwriter Ella Haber drops the music video for ‘My Lover’. Directed by the talented Sydney-based director Tom Stephens, the video captures the song’s profound exploration of personal growth and companionship to self that comes after experiencing heartbreak. The shortest track on the record in length, Ella felt that it was the right choice as the soundtrack for a brief but all-encompassing visual representation of self-acceptance that speaks for itself. Moving between the intimate solo ruminations of the artist inside the thematic bedroom scene, time alone on beautiful sun-soaked Dharug country, and the powerful visual portraits of the most important people in Ella’s life, the 100-second clip stands as a visual statement for all of the intimacy, self-reflection and deep threads of love that characterise ‘Moments Between Dreams’.

Ella reflects, “On another track of the record, NYD, I talk about not remembering the faces of those I love in my darkest moments. It was very important for me to show those faces in the video. Their expressions staring down the camera say so much more than I could in a song. They have lived whole lives and held me through my own. The love I share with them is a crucial part of what my own journey of self-acceptance has come to mean.” 

Director Tom Stephens shares his insight into the project stating, “For me, ‘My Lover’ is a celebration of the very human journey of moving from a place of heartbreak to personal growth. My goal with this clip was to provide a space for Ella’s powerful lyrics and vocal performance to lead with the visuals grounded in authenticity. I love that we were able to feature Ella’s beautiful friends to show the healing power of community after self acceptance.” 

The release of ‘My Lover’ sets the stage for Ella Haber’s hometown headline show at The Vanguard on May 12th, where she will curate an unforgettable evening of music and community love. Taking the stage with her full band, Ella will showcase her mesmerising blend of jazz, indie and future soul, driven by the show-stopping vocal performance she is known for. 

Joining Ella Haber on this celebratory evening is Western Sydney R&B icon PA777IENCE (formerly Clarissa Mei), Sydney DJ icon Setwun, and a one-night-only supergroup named ‘The Between Dreamers’ featuring of some of Sydney’s most forward-thinking instrumentalists: Abby Constable (Cracked Suzies) on drums, Jan Bangma (GODTET) on bass, Yianni Adams (Kyoshi) on guitar and Daniel Pliner (PlaneFace) on synths.
